This four bedroom Edwardian house in Wanstead, previously arranged as 2 flats, required planning & conservation consent. The aim of the project was to create a large multi purpose living space, incorporating kitchen, dining & living areas.

Bringing in as much natural light into the new interior spaces was an important feature of the design proposal. This was achieved by extending the existing kitchen sideways and installing a patent glazing roof system to the side return.

To achieve a contemporary finish to the kitchen, we used purpose 30mm black granite worktops laid on IKEA Nexus Birchwood units. The stainless steel appliances consist of a Falcon 6 burner cooking range and Maytag fridge freezer unit. We contrasted the precision machine made polished worktops and kitchen units with a more natural floor finish of riven natural black slate.
