Bow, E3

The property is located within the rather splendid Tredegar Square Conservation Area, London E3. The property was built in the Victorian Era between 1820 & 1860. The client’s stylistic preferences were to create a contemporary living space, with some traditional elements, without being too harsh and minimalist. The design incorporated a strong spatial link between the house and courtyard garden. Also included was the introduction of as much natural light as possible into the interior spaces. Artificial lighting of the internal areas was also very important to the Client. The project included a completely re-designed new ground floor layout plan to the rear of the house. This provided much improved kitchen facilities, ground floor W/C and informal dining/sitting areas. The new layout included the removal of the flank wall to the rear addition of the main house, this provided for a new open plan layout via the construction of a new single storey side extension. To provide the spatial link to the garden area, a set of 4 section spilt folding sliding doors were installed. At first floor level, the rear Bedroom was remoddled to include a raised bed above the entrance door and a sloping soffit ceiling with new VELUX rooflight installation. The re-designed 1st floor area included for a new larger contemporary family bathroom with seperate bathroom and shower all with concealed fittings. Stylish Grey tiles to the walls and floor were included to contrast with the coloured glazed window feature. In the Kitchen area, clean lines were emphasised by using gloss white kitchen units along with acsented coloured glass splashbacks with matching island seating. The floor and skirting detail were treated with large grey porcelain tiles. Tall chrome vertical radiators were made into a stylish room feature. |
